Poetic Christmas wishes from us to you …

29 Dec

Jenny and I would like to thank everyone who has visited our fledgling site so far. We’ve been really encouraged by the all the lovely things you’ve said, and you’ll be delighted to hear we have many exciting plans for the New Year.

In the meantime, here is Robert reading one of the Christmas poems from the posthumously released album Robert Donat Reads His Favourite Poetry: When Icicles Hang from Love’s Labour’s Lost. Settle yourself in a warm and comfortable place, have a glass of something fortifying to hand, and enjoy …

More on Robert’s beautiful poetry readings very soon …

Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.

Much enjoying your brilliant site and finding out more about RD. 39 Steps is my favourite film. Citadel also comes in my top ten – it was hugely influential in shaping public opinion in favour of the NHS: http://bit.ly/wSIXuW

    All the best

Many thanks, Chris, we’re very pleased you’re enjoying the site, and thanks for sharing your favourite RD films with us. If there are any you’ve yet to see, do have a look at our ‘Watch’ tab.

I’ve always liked the old classic actors. Robert Donat had an extraordinary voice. Thanks for the upload. I’ve always enjoyed him in “The 39 Steps”. Too bad he wasn’t in “The Lady Vanishes” and “Rebecca”. I think Michael Redgrave was splendid also, but I could image RD being equally so. As for “Rebecca”, I think RD’s interpretation of Maxim de Winter may fare better than Olivier because he is always so natural and less theatrical in his movies.
